Tricia Rzepka, Monarch Community Bank's Community Business Development Officer talks to Courtney Dean's Math Class today.
For 14 years the Teach Children to Save program through the American Bankers Association has partnered with banks around the country to teach students the importance of saving. The program’s goal is to encourage bankers to reach 5 million students before the end of 2011, the 15th anniversary of Teach Children to Save. To inform area students about the importance of saving money, Tricia Rzepka of Monarch Community Bank, spoke at Courtney Dean’s and Amy Paradine’s classes at Quincy Middle School on Teach Children to Save Day, April 27th.
Rzepka is the community business development officer at Monarch sent to the school with the charge to educate students about the difference between wants and needs. This is an important aspect of her speech since recent studies report that almost 90% of young people have never taken a class in personal finance, although they spend billions per year.
