Closing Reminder for Thanksgiving

November 24th, 2009

All Monarch Community Bank branches will be closed for Thanksgiving, but open normal hours on Wednesday and Friday.

Here is a message from the President and CEO of Monarch Community Bank that he sent to the employees this week regarding Thanksgiving.

Each year on Thanksgiving, we gather with family and friends to thank God for the many blessings He has given us, and we ask God to continue to guide and watch over our country.

Almost 400 years ago, after surviving their first winter at Plymouth, the Pilgrims celebrated to give thanks.  George Washington proclaimed the first National Day of Thanksgiving in 1789.  Abraham Lincoln revived the tradition during the Civil War.  Since that time, our country has express thanks for the bounty of blessings.  We enjoy and spend time with family and friends even in these times of challenge, we always have reasons to be thankful.

I wish all of you and your families a joyful and blissful holiday.

Veteran’s Day Closing

November 6th, 2009

Below is an email that was sent out from the President of Monarch Community Bank, Don Denney.  Please take some time next week to remember those that are serving and have served in the military.  We will be closed on Wednesday, November 11th in observance of the holiday.

Veterans Day Will Be Upon Us Soon

We will be closed November 11, to honor the veterans and their families, I thought about all those who have sacrificed their lives for the liberty we all enjoy. I wondered about the number of casualties our nation has endured.

Veterans Administration estimate as of September, 30, 2006 approximately 1,100,000 battle deaths starting in 1775.

On this Veterans Day, please honor all our nation’s veterans-those who have worn the uniform in the past and those who wear it today. They have sacrificed so much so that we may continue to enjoy the freedoms and prosperity embodied in this great country.

President John Kennedy once said, “A nation reveals itself not only by the men it produces, but also by the men it honors, the men it remembers.”

What Is A Veteran?

A ‘Veteran’…whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to ‘The United States of America’ for an amount of ‘up to, and including their life.’

That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today, who no longer understand that fact. So that is why our bank branches are closed and I write this email today.
