New Staff/Promotions at Monarch Community Bank!

Monarch Community Bank is excited to announce some staffing changes and promotions at the headquarters in Coldwater.  Kirk Bell, has been promoted as mortgage loan officer; Jill Parsons, has been named branch manager; and Bruce Perkins is being welcomed as vice president and mortgage originations manager.

Bell has worked for the bank for three years, in a variety of positions including teller, new accounts, and commercial processing.  He is a graduate of Swanton High School, in Swanton Ohio and lives in Coldwater with his wife, Kate and three children.  Bell provides residential and consumer loans for Branch County and surrounding areas.

Jill Parsons, former branch manager for the Hillsdale Branch, has recently accepted the branch manager position at Monarch’s headquarters in Coldwater.   She is a graduate of Hillsdale High School and lives in Jonesville with her fiancé, Mike.  A reception to welcome Parsons will be held on Thursday, March 17th at the bank’s headquarters at 375 N. Willowbrook Rd.

As a mortgage originations manager, Perkins will procure new business and promote good will, as well as maintaining a mortgage loan portfolio.  He is a graduate of Mason High School and of Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in finance.  He has worked in banking for 15 years, coming to the bank from Lake Trust Credit Union in Lansing.  Perkins is married to his wife, Krista and has two daughters.  When asked what he is looking forward to in his new position he said, “Growing the department and the current loan volume while helping to increase the bottom line.”

Phishing Alert!

NACHA – The Electronic Payments Association has received reports that individuals and/or companies have received a fraudulent email that has the appearance of having been sent from NACHA and signed by a non-existent NACHA employee. Specifically, this email claims to be from the “Electronic Payments Association” and appears to be coming from the email address “payments@nacha.org.” See a sample of the email below.
 
Be aware that phishing emails frequently have attachments and/or links to Web pages that host malicious code and software. Do not open attachments or follow Web links in unsolicited emails from unknown parties or from parties with whom you do not normally communicate, or that appear to be known but are suspicious or otherwise unusual.
 
NACHA itself does not process nor touch the ACH transactions that flow to and from organizations and financial institutions. NACHA does not send communications to individuals or organizations about individual ACH transactions that they originate or receive.
 
If malicious code is detected or suspected on a computer, consult with a computer security or anti-virus specialist to remove malicious code or re-install a clean image of the computer system.
 
Always use anti-virus software and ensure that the virus signatures are automatically updated.
 
Ensure that the computer operating systems and common software applications security patches are installed and current. 
 
Be alert for different variations of fraudulent emails.

Monarch Sponsors Free Car Seat Check for Branch County Residents

Safe Kids Coalition has scheduled a free Car Seat Safety Check, held Wednesday, February 23 at the Coldwater Police Department.  The check will be held from 2:00-6:00 p.m.  Children must be present and participants must be a resident of Branch County in order to qualify for the check.  Appointments are required by calling the Health Department at 1-888-544-7395 ext. 137.

It is the law in Michigan that all children must be in an appropriate car seat until eight years of age, or 4’9” tall.  Car seats will be available to those that qualify.  This event is sponsored by Monarch Community Bank, Coldwater Police Department, Branch County Sherriff’s Department, Community Health Center of Branch County, Early Education Services of Branch Intermediate School District.

Safe Kids Coalition is led by the Branch-Hillsdale- St. Joseph Community Health Agency.
