Monarch Helps Provide Wish List Items for Manor

April 6th, 2010

When The Manor came out with an email requesting donations for their renovation project recently, Monarch Community Bank employees were excited to help the residential treatment and special education facility in Jonesville. Then came notification that The Manor received more donations than expected from the community, but employees at Monarch were able to help in another way.

“On The Manor’s website, they have provided list of items that the residents at the facility are in need of. We were excited to fulfill some of those wants and needs,” said Jill Parsons, teller manager at the Hillsdale Branch located in Hillsdale on Carleton Road.

The bank employees went shopping and got a variety of items which were on the wish list including: construction paper, markers, crayons, towels, wash cloths, underwear, socks, shampoo, coloring books, chalk, notebooks, folders, and more. When employees went to bring the items to get donated development coordinator, Jon Beal, gave the employees a tour of the facility and the stressed the importance of donations from the community. If you’re interested in making a donation or viewing the wish list for The Manor, go to their website at www.the-manor.org. “We’re glad we were able to help the residents in some small way and we look forward to more donations in the future,” said Courtney Dirschell of the marketing department at the bank.

Monarch Provides Volunteer Assistance at Food Pantry

March 29th, 2010

Monarch Community Bank employees have stepped up to help out those less fortunate. Employees at the bank are regularly volunteering their time at the Branch Area Food Pantry on Friday afternoons.

“We’re excited to have Monarch employees step up to help us out by volunteering their time,” said Ann Lown, Branch Area Food Pantry Board member. The Pantry has been extremely busy lately. The week of March 7 alone, the Pantry distributed 125 boxes, which helped to feed 359 people in Branch County. There were also eight new families (20 people) sign up the following week. The bread that week was given to 99 families, which helped to feed 284 people.

If you’d like more information about the Food Pantry or information on making a donation, please call the Pantry at 279-0966.

Monarch Helps Students add artwork to Hospital

May 20th, 2009

Last Friday, Don Denney, President and CEO of Monarch Community Bank was on hand to provide the prizes to the winners of the Hospital Enhancement Project for 2009 at the Community Health Center of Branch County.

Each year kids from across the county submit their artwork to be judged by volunteers at the hospital and a handful are selected to adorn the walls of the hospital for a year.  Monarch proudly supports this project by providing the funding to have the artwork framed and matted each year.

Casual for a Cause

March 10th, 2009

Being bankers, we don’t get the chance to shed the suit very often, so we have started going casual for a cause. Every Friday we can dress down and wear our green to support locol non-profits. Last year we raised $645, just by going casual.

This year each branch chose an organization to support. The Headquarters at Willowbrook Road in Coldwater will support the Community Health Center of Branch County Cancer Center; the branch at 87 Marshall Street in Coldwater will give donations to the local food pantry; Union City will help support the Union City Christmas Food Basket project; Salvation Army will get the funds from the Hillsdale Branch and the Marshall Branches will give donations to the MAC/Fountain Clinic.

Of course these organizations can use more than we can raise ourselves, So, containers are available for additional donations if a customer would like to help these groups as well.
